Formation Community Leaders

Small groups are a vital component in the life of our church—a bit like the glue that holds us together as we know, love and do life together. Our new term for small groups is Formation Communities (i.e. Home groups, Connect groups, Life Groups, etc.) and GSB is looking to form a number of new groups. To achieve this, the place to start is recruiting leaders and/or hosts for groups that meet in homes. The task of leading or facilitating a Formation Community has been simplified and requires little additional time in preparation. We are not looking for leaders to be Bible teachers; merely to facilitate sharing and interaction as the groups share food, pray together, tell their stories, and minister to one another as they forge friendships. Full training and ongoing support are available for leaders. We’re asking you to pray and consider whether this might be a task God is provoking you to consider.

Children’s Ministry

Do you have a passion for ministry to/with children, introducing them to Jesus and cooperating with their parents in their discipleship? Kids play such a vital role in the life of our community and our Children’s Ministry at GSB runs an exciting programme during our morning services. We’re looking to add to the dynamic team—sharing the load and investing in our children.

Site and Set Up

We’re looking to form a new team of people willing to help set up our auditorium/facilities each week for worship services, manage the building during the service, and to deconstruct shared spaces for during the week. The work involves setting out chairs, organizing signs, serving as fire warden, packing/cleaning up at the end of services and locking up. This is a role for those wired by God to serve practically—behind the scenes, but immensely important! The plan is to have rostered teams, but also may be a ministry some love to do each week as an act of serving the Lord.

Hosting Teams

Each Sunday a team of people offer a friendly greeting to those entering our services and especially seek to make newcomers amongst us feel welcome. If you are able to be warm and friendly, shake a hand and engage in conversation—especially with people you’ve never met before—we could do with your help. As we prepare to relocate to our new buildings (multiple entrances) we’re looking to expand our teams (usually rostered monthly) and to include a range of ages. This is a key ministry in our church and something especially open to those new amongst us.

Music Ministry

Do you have spiritual gifts around music, love to worship, are a team player and able to take direction? The GSB music ministry is always looking for more team members to lead our congregation into the presence of God in worship.

Practical Work Teams

GSB is looking for people with a practical orientation able to do physical work on the properties of people unable to do it for themselves, as an expression of love and outreach. (e.g., mowing lawns, section clearing, gardening, maintenance, etc.) Belong to a team like this, available on call, might suit someone newly retired, or with a with a flexible schedule and with basic handyman skills.

Hospitality & Catering Team:

Food and hospitality are a huge part of our life as a church. We are looking for a team to manage that part of our life as a church. This will involve the Sunday morning Coffee, Food and Tea elements, as well as swinging into gear for special events like shared lunches, alpha, etc...
